Japanese Memorial Terminal Island

Japanese Memorial Terminal Island

$1,650.00

This is a painting I did of the beautiful statue located in San Pedro, CA memorializing the Japanese Fishing Village that was once there.

In 1941 thousands of Japanese first and second generation Americans made their home here. With the start of WWII they were all evacuated and their homes and village destroyed. After the war the villagers came back to find nothing except for a few canneries. In 1971, they formed the Terminal Islanders Club and in 2002 erected this monument to their ancestors who once lived and worked there.

This is an 10" x 20" original oil painting and comes in a gallery style wood frame.
